Souped Up

With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens there were tons of product tie ins and promotions and all the cool ones weren't even available in Canada.  The States seemed to get the good stuff like cereal prizes and R2-D2 soup.  Yep, Campbell's did some Star Wars soups and I had been seeing pictures of them on Instagram for quite a while now.  I've been checking the soup aisle at various grocery stores off and on, but finally hit got lucky when I found these at Co-op last week.

While I didn't see the R2-D2 soup there were two different cans, Darth Vader and Yoda, but the contents are the same for both tins, pasta with chicken in chicken broth.  That just means it's chicken noodle soup.

There are four different pasta shapes, Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, R2-D2 and Yoda.

It sure looks delicious!

I'm just kidding, it doesn't look very good and doesn't taste very good either.  Even a R2-D2 noodle can't help.

I kept telling myself it was "healthy" because there were some carrots in it.  Really it doesn't have any nutritional value to it and I don't think 20% daily intake of sodium counts as something.  Now I don't want to eat my Vader can because it's not that good.  Now if I ever see the Vader can of Spaghetti-Os you know I'll be grabbing those!  Uh oh!

Star Wars Trilogy

Well I did it, I finally got my hands on the Hot Wheels version of the Millennium Falcon from The Force Awakens.  Thanks, Wal-Mart.  They had bunch of Star Wars Hot Wheels, but that was about it.  The rest of the Star Wars section was looking pretty sparse.

I just assumed they took the easy way in making the new updated version of the Falcon and that was just using the previous mold and just sticking a square dish on it.  Turns out they changed the turret on the top from single barrel to double barrel.  But other than that they are identical.

Here is the Hot Wheels Falcon from the original trilogy, the Black Series Titanium Falcon based on TFA and then the Hot Wheels TFA Falcon.  There is some discrepancies between the three.

The original trilogy Hot Wheels Falcon has a single barrel laser turret and round dish, while the Titanium Falcon has a single laser turret and square dish while the the TFA Hot Wheels Falcon has a double barrel turret and square dish.  If the two Falcons are based on the TFA, then why do they have different turrets?  Which one is the accurate one?

Three Falcons are better than one.

Starr Warz

Just because The Force Awakens has been out for a few months doesn't mean Disney is going to let up pumping out Star Wars merch and tie ins.  They announced a while back that they were releasing a Star Wars EDM album called Head Space.

The digital album is out now with the physical version due out in stores next month.  Don't want to buy the digital album because you are a cranky old man like me?  Don't want to buy the CD without having a listen first?  No problem because over at the official website you can listen to all the entire album for free.

PS ~ Let me know if it's any good.  Thanks.

Pee-Wee!

It's been quiet here lately because I've just been lazy and haven't had anything new/cool/exciting to write.  My XBone being a piece a junk and for reason not being able to play SW: Battlefront while it can play other games and Blu-rays doesn't count.  It was even a double score and credit weekend last week and I couldn't get on!  Waaaahhh....

Anyway, the trailer for Pee-Wee's Big Holiday just dropped, so check it out!!  The movie is out March 18th, only a month to go!

Sucks it's on Netflix, I guess I'll have to sign up just for that month so I can watch it.  I'll have to make sure to binge watch Daredevil and Jessica Jones while I'm at it.

UPDATE!

I just found a trailer for another sequel from a movie that was made quite a while ago, this time it's Kindergarten Cop 2.

Yep, looks pretty bad right?  I still gotta watch it though because Dolph.

Spin me right round

As I said here is the low down on my Sylvania turntable I bought at Superstore.

The full box shot of my new Sylvania USB turntable.

At work they had two different versions of this turntable, my blue one and a purple one.  The purple one was priced at $8.94 while the blue one which I got was priced one dollar cheaper at $7.94.  I couldn't figure out what the difference between the two of them was, I mean the purple one had to be better because it was more expensive right?  Boxes for both models were identical with the same specs, they even had identical serial numbers which means the extra dollar was just for the colour.  I'm not paying an extra dollar just for purple, so I took the cheaper blue one which in the end cost me $7.51 with my discount.

Here are the specs from the back of the box. Can you believe it has rotary volume control AND a led light?!

Contents of the box are the turntable itself, the USB cable and instructions and software driver.  I didn't install the software, but it's for recording your vinyl and transferring it to digital format.

Not the most trusted or reliable name in consumer home electronics.

Turntable with the roof up, so you can see under the hood.  There is a spot for the 45 adapter!  It also comes with a mini slipmat, but mine had a slight warp in it.  I could try and flatten it out, buy a new one and cut it down, but really it would be cheaper to just buy a second unit.

The side has all the buttons/switches and inputs/outputs as well as the speaker.  You see the button for the USB/Battery select?  Yep, that means the unit can be powered by USB or batteries.

It only takes four "AA" batteries to power it, so you can take it with your where ever you go.  It's convenient like that.

Once you put the record in it sort of looks like a pizza cutter to me.  The good news is that it actually works.  As I a record player I mean, I haven't tried cutting any pizza with it.  One negative is that it only has the single built in speaker with sounds a bit treble-y, there isn't much or any bass.  Overall though I thought it was a pretty good deal for less than eight dollars.  It plays records with no problem, it's small so it doesn't take up much space and has the ability to transfer your vinyl collection to digital format.

If you head over to my Instagrump you can see and hear it in action!  The Beastie Boys were too ill for the Slyvania, the lack of bass did them no justice.

Coming Soon

After work today I was walking through the GM side of the store and they have lots of clearance and marked down stock and I saw this on the end of one of the aisles.

Yes, it's Sylvania, but it was priced at only $7.94 and for that price I couldn't not buy it.  Saturday I don't work, so I'll give it a try and let know if was worth the money.  I'm not sure if I should try putting a good record in it when I try it out or something "expendable".

Chips ahoy

I picked up these two snack foods the other day, one is a new and the other is a returning champ.

The Lay's chocolate covered chips probably aren't very good for you (and terrible for me), but they taste so good.  There were around for a while last year, but for a limited time.  I'm not sure if this time it's for good or another limited time, so grab some while you can because you gotta at least try them once.

The Spicy Guacamole Pringles say right on the can "Limited Time Only", so I grabbed some while I had the chance.  They are pretty good, I'd like to get another can before they leave, but so far the only place I've seen them is at Superstore.

After you eat this junk food you can go get some exercise and measure it on your fitness tracker to make sure you burn off all the calories/fat.  Or not...

Helmet head

I was Wal-Mart today because I'm on the hunt for the Hot Wheels The Force Awakens version of the Millenium Falcon.  As you know I already have the Hot Wheels original version they did and the Titanium version for TFA, but I want to get the Hot Wheels one because I like it better.  It's a larger and looks better.

The only place I've seen one is the Wal-Mart in Cranbrook when Willie and I were there for boxing day.  It doesn't even look like the Wal-Marts here have restocked much Star Wars stuff since Christmas which sucks.

I'm not sure if this is a restock, but I think it might be brand new as I've never seen these before.  They're a two pack of helmets based on characters from The Force Awakens.  They also had a Kylo Ren/X-Wing Pilot helmet pack.  Since they didn't have any Hot Wheels Falcons I couldn't go home empty handed, the loaf of bread I also got doesn't count.

The helmets are die cast metal on a clear plastic stand.  It actually looks pretty cool, but unfortunately the helmet is mounted directed to the stand.  It would've been nice if you could remove the helmet from the stand.

I wasn't too keen on the Phasma helmet because while she does look cool, her character is kind of useless, but in the end it's not like I had a choice!

This probably means that eventually they'll get around to making these for the original trilogy which has a lot of cool helmets to choose from and I have to say is BIKER SCOUT HELMET PLEASE!!

Free crap report

It's been a while, but I'm here letting you know you about an offer for free stuff.  It's not entirely free as you have to eat two boxes of cereal to get it, but after that you're good.  Who doesn't eat cereal anyway?

Kellogg's and Special K are giving away activity trackers if you are into that kind of thing. I am but only because it's free.  Just enter two PIN codes found on boxes then sit by your mailbox for 6 - 8 weeks for your free tracker.

Now I can keep track of all the exercise I don't do!

If you aren't into red, then Vector has the same offer but with a blue activity tracker.

Vs

I was at Wal-Mart getting some stuff because they have the best prices, spectacular customer service and a wide selection of products.  They really do!  One of those products is the new Batman Vs Superman cereal from General Mills to tie into the upcoming movie.  Of course, it's not just a single type of cereal, but Batman and Superman each get their own different cereal to make the hardcore nerds buy both kinds.

The movie isn't out for a while, but who wins the cereal battle, Batman or Superman?

Chocolate Strawberry
Caramel Crunch

Honestly, I can't really say if the Batman or the Superman cereal is better than the other because they both aren't very good.  Actually, when it comes to the best tasting movie tie in cereal I gotta give to the Minions cereal.  Sorry Batman and Superman.
