Alrighty then!

I'm sure you guys remember pictures of the fridge at our old place.  I had it literally covered in all kinds of posters and mostly magnets, magnets from all over the place.  We've been living in the place for almost one year now and our fridge still looks like this...

It's still pretty much a blank slate.  While I was in Cranbrook I came across some posters that I had removed from magazines once upon a time.  I put some in the recycling bin, but I brought a few back to Calgary to put on on the fridge.

An Ace Ventura poster and a X-Files poster,  I stuck a Goldeneye poster on the side of the fridge.  I really need to find my Ace Ventura DVD set because I need to re-watch those movies. Such classics!

I also spotted this official website address on the Ace Ventura poster and had to check it out to see if it's still active.

I was disappointed to find out that aceventura.com has been discontinued.  The good news is that the domain name is for sale!  I should totally buy it and then when they make a sequel (or probably a reboot) I can sell the domain name back to them and get a truck load of cash.  Anyone care to lend me the money???

Warning: Graphic Content

I made it back to Calgary late this afternoon.  I went the north way again despite all the road work.  I was also ready for that damn bump again and it didn't get me a second time.  Willie is now in Calgary, but he went the south way.  Hopefully, it wasn't too windy, it was supposed to be pretty crazy on there yesterday.

I had been meaning on writing something on here since Sunday, but just kept forgetting.  I'm not sure how because it wasn't like I was busy or anything.  Turns out I did absolutely nothing for Sam Steele Days.  I skipped the parade, didn't even go into town really at all on Saturday.  My mom was actually in Toronto and was supposed to fly in on Saturday, but the weather was bad and they had a storm warning in Toronto, so her plane didn't leave on time.  It sat on the tarmac for an hour and a half before it was allowed to leave.  She missed her connecting flight from Calgary to Cranbrook, so she had to stay the night in Calgary.

I picked my mom at the airport Sunday morning.  Then we got groceries and went back home.  Once again I just hung out at home and did nothing.  Well not nothing, I spent the whole time going through boxes and trying to get rid of stuff.  I did manage to shave off four boxes of stuff from my pile in the basement.  In addition to the stuff I got rid of on Friday, I took another few bags of stuff to the thrift again on Tuesday.  I brought some toys back with me in hopes of taking it to Phoenix in hopes of cash, but will probably just get store credit.  I also dropped a bag of toys off for Eli.

On Monday, I met Willie for lunch.  I had to get him to test a VHS tape I found that had no label on it.  I was hoping it had an actual working copy of Psycho Killer Hermit Guy on it, but all it had was some kung fu movies I taped from Video Update rentals.  I dropped Willie off for work and still had a lot of time left so I went out to the Fish Hatchery, but you already knew that if you follow me on Instagram.  The mosquitoes almost killed me, but I survived...barely.

Tuesday I didn't do much again.  I met my mom for lunch then made another thrift store run and dropped off some more bags.  I only spent $1.50 on my way out!

Going back and forth into town from was kind of a pain because they are paving the roads up there.  The had started on Gold Creek Road and had done of the main artery roads and Monday they started paving 38th Ave which is the big long road.  Yeah, it's a short term pain, but the roads up there really needed it, so it will nice once it gets done.

When I at the Trout Hatchery I walked over to the fishing pond which in the trees and when I came out I was literally covered in mosquitoes.  I had like a big black swarm just following me around.  Of course a few got in car.  I got this one, but it looks like he got me first.

Gettin' paid

Today in the morning I went through more boxes, but I wasn't having as much as luck getting rid of stuff as I did yesterday.  After not finding much to get rid of I decided it was time to head up to Kimberley.

I went to Old Koots Vintage which is just off the backside of the Platzl opposite Burrito Grill and the Kimberley Thrift Store.  I had called a head to make sure it was okay to show up with a bunch of stuff and they said it was all good.

I showed up and had three boxes of stuff, one medium size box and two smaller boxes.  They looked through it a bit and asked what I was looking to get for it all.  I honestly wasn't even sure because I didn't know what stuff they wanted if any of it.  They asked what I wanted before even checking it all out, I just said "Sixty??" and the lady said okay and then I got paid.  I might have under sold myself, but the stuff is gone and I got some extra cash.

Since I was there I walked around the store a bit and got this Gremlins book and record set.

It's hard to see, but there is tiny $10.00 tag on the bottom right hand side.  That price seems a bit high to me, but they only charged me $2.50 for it, so that more like it.

Since the thrift store is right across the street I had to go in and have a look and ended up spending $1.50 there.  First up, I got this German Bruce Le VHS tape.  Looks kinda neat, but that's about it.

I also got this bag of toys for $1.00.

The toys are pretty much all crap toys, all stuff from fast food kids meals.  For whatever dumb reason there are even empty Kinder Surprise toy capsules in there.

Also, there was this ear piece mixed in the toys, but that is what every kids wants and needs.

I'm sure you are wondering why I even bought that bag of junk toys.  Well, I bought it just for this dirty old scuffed up Star Wars dude.  He was worth the $1.00 and the rest of the stuff is now headed straight back to the thrift store.

Even though I got $60 from my junk at Old Koots, I'm down to less than $20 and I'll probably just end up spending that tomorrow was the Farmer's Market.   Easy come, easy go.

I also went to AABCO once I got back to Cranbrook because I'm looking for a VHS/DVD recorder combo unit.  I already have a VCR and a DVD recorder, but it would be a lot easier if they were in one unit instead of two separate units.  It's just less work and less wires.

As I went to go inside I noticed they had a big "No Smoking" on the front of the door and I thought, "Damn, it's about time".  But soon as I went inside, it still reeks of cigarette smoke.  They got a new cat working there and every time you walk by him or he walks by you, he meows at you.  He's cute, but probably smells like smoke like the rest of the time.  While I looking at DVDs I saw some lady who was working there just light up and smoke a cigarette.  I guess the "No Smoking" sign only applied to customers.  I ended up buying a few movies and then left to go straight home and scrub the filth from my hands.  Whenever I come out of the place I feel like I need a shower.

I'm sure what's happening Saturday.  Maybe the parade and the Farmer's Market and possibly the burrito truck.

The story so far...

On Wednesday I worked a half day in the morning and was finished work by 11 am, so I decided I might as well drive back to Cranbrook.  The weather was pretty crappy, overcast with some rain, so perfect driving weather since my car doesn't have A/C.  I drove the north route through the park.

They are still doing road work in Kootenay National Park and it's pretty annoying.  The started on it last year and it's still not done.  Worst of all, it's a huge long stretch of construction zone with very little construction happening.   They have all these small areas of work all spread out, some areas have a couple guys working on them and some have nobody there at all.  Why not just have everyone just work on one section, get it finished and then move onto to the next area of work?  Seems more productive than having a bunch of construction areas with little or no work getting done.

Also on my drive through the park I hit this huge bump, it was more like a frost heave speed bump, that busted my exhaust.  The bump wasn't marked on the side of the road with a red flag like they usually do, so I just came up on it a full speed and my car bounced over it.  I must've cracked a joint weldor did something to put a hole in my exhaust because it was pretty loud after that.  I pulled over at the nearest rest stop to have a look.  Everything was there and nothing was visibly broken or hanging off,  but it was louder.  My car sounds totally badass (but mostly broken) now.  I had to crank up the stereo a bit because it was harder to hear over the exhaust.

Once I got to Cranbrook I had to hit up Safeway and buy some groceries because my mom is in Toronto and there is no food at the house.  I got some of the good mushy cat food for that barn cat guy.  He's getting pretty fat for a barn cat.

This morning I dug through some boxes and as always found looks of cool stuff.  I also found some stuff to get rid of!  I took four bags of books to Pages and dropped off an overflowing box to The Cellar.  I still have box of "good" stuff to take up to Kimberley to see if I can sell it at Old Koots Vintage.  I'll be going through more boxes since I'll be here until next week, so I'll probably be making another trip to the thrift store.

I stopped by Scarff HQ to both drop off some goodies and pick up some goodies.  Thanks Cam and Cara for the Disneyland loot.  I will wear my X-Wing pin every time I get behind the wheel of my car.  I'm also assuming the glasses are 3D glasses?  What movie did you see or what ride are they from?

That's about it up until Thursday night except just now I was just replying to an @ultracam2.0 message on Instagram when I got this other message come through.

I told he him could, so my feed is gonna blow up as soon as he does!!

Announcement

I'm taking some time off next week to go back to Cranbrook for a few days and the best part is that I'll be there for Sam Steele Days!  Woohoo! Maybe I'll enter the Wicked Weenies eating contest, but really I'll probably do nothing.  I might go to the taco truck and/or crepe truck, but that is about it.

I'm planning on going back next Thursday, possible Wednesday as I only work a half day in the morning that day.  It depends on the weather, if it's not too hot I'll go back Wednesday.  The thing is that my mom is out of town until Saturday night, so I got the house to myself.  The best part about going home is having to eat real food, but since my mom's gone it looks like I'll have to buy my own groceries.  I'll make sure she buys steaks when she gets back, like a few days worth of steaks.

I'll have to e-mail Willie and see what he's up to up.  He'll probably be busy with Sam Steele stuff plus its the end of the school year, so lots of lame school stuff at the theatre.  I'll be sure to ask him how the Smashmouth concert was.

Bonus

I've been slowing going through my basement boxes and very slowly getting rid of some stuff.  Like I took one marble out of box type "getting rid of stuff", but it's a start.  Today I looked in a couple boxes while I was in the basement putting some laundry in.  I pulled out a couple scraps of paper to throw away and I found a random DVD.

I found this "Spidey Bonus Disk" which is obviously a burned copy.  I got it as a bonus (duh!) when I bought something off eBay.  I don't remember what I bought to get this bonus disc, but that wasn't the only other bonus disc.  I also got a burned disc of the Nick Fury TV movie starring David Hasselhoff.  The weird thing is I just watched that Nick Fury disc not that long ago.  I brought the Spidey disc upstairs to check what was on it.

There are fourteen files on the disc, twelve of the them are Spidey related and two are not.  There are ten episodes of the 70's Japanese Spider-Man TV show.  This is the one where he gets his powers from an alien bracelet, has a flying car and a giant ship that transforms into a giant robot.  Yep, it's awesome!  Marvel has released every episode online with subtitles, but I'm not sure if it's still available.   I'm surprised there hasn't been an official DVD release of this yet.  These batch of episodes appear to have subtitles as well.

There are also two Spider-Man 70's movies or I think they are movies.  I actually watched the first one today and it's the first movie where Peter Parker gets his spider powers.  I'm not sure what the second one is as when I started it had like an episode title with Part 1 on it, so maybe it's just some TV episodes edited into a movie.

Then for whatever reason there is the audio book of Ready Player One , in two parts, as read by Wil Wheaton.  Sure, why not.

The Spidey Bonus Disk was a neat find, I'll be watching all the Spider-Man videos soon.  It's burned as a data disk, but my blu-ray player plays all the video formats so I can watch them on my TV.  Bonus!
