May the shoes be with you

I mentioned I got some awesome shoes for Christmas and instead of writing about them, I'll just show them to you.  I don'ts write so good anyhow.

I was a little late to the party learning that these shoes even existed.  When I did eventually hear that Vans did a Star Wars shoe collection this summer I tried getting some here in town, but everyone was sold out.  I went to the store where I got my red checker slip ons and they were out, but they guy said to try the Vans store.  I was like, "We have a Vans store?"  I guess if I went to the mall more often or at all I would know that Chinook has a Vans store, but of course they were sold out long ago.  I wrote a letter to Santa asking him for a pair and he totally delivered!

The one bad thing about getting these shoes is that I'm going to have to wait until at least the end of April to wear them.  Damn Canadian winters.

Wheels up

I got some Hot Wheels for Christmas from both Logan and Avery.  I think I'm going to need a new wall hanging display.

Logan got me the movie and TV themed Hot Wheels.  The K.I.T.T. is the best one even though it's the cheesy super pursuit mode that was introduced in the final season.  Also, looks like Mr. Miyagi's Ford has been both waxed on and waxed off.  Nice work, Daniel-san.

Avery got me the Star Wars Hot Wheels which I didn't even know existed.  My favourite is the R2-D2 hot rod.  There are also Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader cars.  There was only five shown on the back of the pack, but you know they probably came with a crap load more in different waves for as many characters as possible even Prune Face.

All the cars came from Target, RIP.  Mattel's TV and movie line of vehicles is pretty cool, so I hope they keep it up.  It ranges from old movies like Ghostbuster and Stripes to new movies like Old School and David Spade's car from Tommy Boy.  Hot Wheels/Mattel if you are listening I want the Fall Guy GMC truck!

Make a run for the border

Cody came back to Calgary on Saturday and brought back all the cereals he bought while down in the States.  He went down there just to get food, but of course you know he also got other junk food we don't have up here in Canada.  This is what he brought back for me.

Red Vines, no explanation needed.  Didn't we have them up here in Canada at one point?  I remember eating them unless we had a Canadian knock off version.

This looks good, Reese's peanut butter chocolate spread.  I like how on the label it shows an apple with the spread on it.  Nobody that eats this stuff is going to be eating apples with it.  You eat it straight out of the container with a spoon like it's pudding.  That's how I'm going to eat it.

JACKED!  Doritos Spicy Street Taco, is as nasty as you'd expect, but they gotta keep its street cred and not sell out to the man.  The flavour is very BOLD like the bag says and I wouldn't recommend eating them and then having to be in close quarters with other people unless you have a wheel barrow full of breath mints at your disposal.

Cheez-It!  I don't think I've ever eaten these before, so we'll see how they are.

Cody got these Tapatio Doritos for himself.  Why is everything flavoured spicy/hot in the States?  Food can have flavour without being spicy.

Cody picked up all the food at two different stores, Wal-Mart and Super 1 Foods(awesome name and logo).  I don't really like the Wal-Marts here in Canada, so I imagine I'd dislike the US Wal-Marts even more despite the cool snack food and cereal selection.  They're probably like 100X more trashy and revolting.

I wonder what the border guys thought of Cody going down there and coming back with only cereal and junk food?  Totally worth the trip.

Marvel vs DC

I wouldn't be Christmas without getting some socks.  Sad thing is I actually need some this year, so much so that I had to buy myself a few pairs already.  Banana socks!  Thanks to my sister I got some more.

A couple packs of Marvel socks with two pairs per pack.  She ripped off the price tags, but I could see they were from Ross.  Now that Target is closed we should get them up here in Canada.  We already know they sell cool socks.

More superhero socks!  The Superman ones are two pairs per packs while the Batman ankle socks have three per pack.  I was worried they weren't going to fit as on the packs it says sizes 6-12 and that seems like quite a size difference.  They fit although a little snug, but I'll stretch them out.  That or I'll end up with holes in the toes.

And a pair of big fuzzy warm socks to wear on cold winter days.  Didn't really them today as it was +17C here.  Break out the ankle socks!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day

Cody who is still in Moyie went down to the States and brought back a pile of cereal.

I'm looking foward to the Kix and the Cap'n Crunches.  The Jif cereal kinda scares me.

Cruisin' Cranbrook

I got back to Calgary tonight.  The drive was back was okay.  The road was pretty much deserted until I got on Hwy 1.  Once I got home I brought all my stuff inside, but didn't get it all unpacked and put away.   Tomorrow I'd like to get my XBox One hooked up.  Physically hooking it up should be easy, it's the 10,000 updates it is going to need that is going to be a pain.

So on Tuesday, I met my Mom for lunch at the new Vietnamese place beside the old Rogers Video.  It was okay, but I was a little disappointed they didn't have Vietnamese subs.  After that I met Cody and (eventually) Willie.  We hit some Cranbrook hot spots and bought some junk.

I went to my sister's for dinner where I got my Christmas gifts from them.  Got some cool stuff including an absolute KILLER pair of shoes.  Matt cooked steaks and they were huge, a potato and the steak filled my entire plate.  After dinner we went to the hockey game and the Ice won.

Now I'm back I'm totally lazy and don't want to go back to work tomorrow.  I will be posting some pictures of the stuff I got from gifts and at Cranbrook stores.  I'll try to spread it out and get more posts out of it instead of one massive picture filled post.  I did post a few pictures up on my Instagram if you want to check them out.  Mike already saw them because he follows me on there cuz he's cool.  What's wrong with the rest of you?

Gimme my loot

I made a last minute decision to come back to Cranbrook for a very brief stay.  One whole day is my definition of a very brief stay.  This morning I worked a half day and then drove back to Cranbrook in the afternoon.  I'll do something Tuesday and then drive back to Calgary on Wednesday afternoon So I can be at work Thursday morning bright and early.

The drive was boring as usual except when an elk ran out in front of my car just before Fort Steele.   Once I got back to Cranbrook I literally unpacked my car and then sat at the table for dinner, so good timing on my part.  After dinner my mom was eager to give me my Christmas gifts, even though she told me what she already got me.

The XBone!  It sucks because once I get back to Calgary it's right back to work, so I probably won't even get a real chance to sit down and get some good time on it until next Tuesday!  Once I get it hooked up my plan is to ditch my Sony 3D blu-ray player as they finally updated the XBox to play 3D discs.  I even ordered a Microsoft Media Remote online from Future Shop to make navigating discs to watching movies easier than having to use the controller.  But I getting a head of myself here.

I also got some stuff in general that's been sitting around waiting a while for me because I haven't been home for so long including some awesome cereal.

I already got boxes of Frankenberry and Count Chocula, but those are the Canadian versions.  My sister got me the US versions including Boo Berry which we never even got in Canada.  The ones she got are the retro version boxes that make them way cooler because they come with cut-out masks on the back of the box.

Of course you know I can never open them, eat the cereal or cut-out the mask because that would decrease their collectibility.  I must try and maintain them in as pristine shape as possible.  That way in about twenty years or so I can sell them for about $5...each!  Profit baby!

THE GREAT AMERICAN BEERCAN HUNT

It's new video time!  THE GREAT AMERICAN BEERCAN HUNT is our parody of hunting shows starring Cody, Willie and I.

Even though it's ninteen minutes long (which is long for us) there was a still a lot of footage cut out.  Don't worry, it was cut for a reason.  It took a while to get this video going because getting the footage was a bit difficult.  Cody tried to transfer it with his gizmo-ma-bob, but when ever there were scenes with some shaky camera work the video freeze up and skip.  Since we shot the entire video all hand held, there were a LOT of shaky scenes.  In the end we piped it in through my DVD recorder and recorded it to DVD that way...twice.  Cody then ripped the video from the DVD, so he was able to start working on it.  Whew.

All in all, it turned out pretty good considering when we filmed it all we had was an idea/concept.  We drove up some road by Cody's and started filming stuff,  pretty much made everything up on the spot.  It's all ad libbed and improved.  In post, Cody learned some fancy CGI effects for this too.  Also, thanks to Cam for the twangy guitar music.

There are still more videos left to be done like SON OF A GUN, UNTITLED, WORST MOVIE EVER MADE and THE CRAPOLA COMPILATION.   I'm not sure which one will get done first, but one of them will get done sooner or later.

Too Many Rappers

If you haven't seen it yet, an unreleased Beastie Boys video for Too Many Rappers has been...uh...released.  So Ch-ch-check it out!

Beastie Boys  Too Many Rappers featuring Nas... by TheBestViews

The video quality isn't very good, but it is awesome for no reason other than Ad-Rock eating out of an Arby's dumpster.  Your turn Cam.

RIP That place

Don't you hate it when a store you like closes down?  I know I sure do.  You wish you had visited it a little more often and maybe it would still be around?

A couple months ago I was up in the NW part of town and decided to go over to Crowfoot Terrace and check out Urban Sound Exchange.  Even though it's called "Urban" Sound Exchange, it is pretty damn far from downtown.  I've written about it a couple times on here as it was sold used CDs and DVDs.  Their prices were high on some stuff when compared to Cash Converters, but their music selection was better and more organized.  Over the years I've bought a few hard to find CDs from them and you might recall that they started carrying records and I got my Star Wars Christmas album and Count Floyd record there.

As I saying, I went to go there a couple months ago and it was gone!  It has been replaced by a frozen yogourt store.  I like frozen yogourt, but I liked Urban Sound Exchange more.   With Urban Sound Exchange gone that is one place less to find used music and movies.  I also had some frequent buyer's cards that I'll never get to use.

Whenever I'd go there I almost usually forget my card, so I'd had to start a new one which is why I have three going.  The top one only has 4 stamps, the middle 7 stamps and the bottom one has 6 stamps.  I could've combined two cards to get my free $10.00 something.  Another used music store, the Inner Sleeve, offers a frequent buyer's card but doesn't let you combine cards, so don't forget your card at home.

There was almost a close call before Christmas when I went to Cash Converters and it was gone!  My favoritest store in the world!  Once upon a time we had four Cash Converters in town and then one by one the stores closed leaving one location left on MacLeod Trail.  It just a false alarm as the store is still there, it just has a new name.  I guess the Cash Converters brand is no more, so they are now known as "The Buy and Sell Store".   Real original name there guys!  They have the same policies and pricing, etc, just with a different name.  It they ever closed I don't know what I'd do, other than save some money.

XBoned

If you go back to my Boxing Day post I put a picture of some Disney/Marvel figures for use with the Infinity 2.0 video game.  I mentioned I didn't have the actual yet, but now I do!

It went on sale this week at Target and I still had my 10% coupons which I also got on Boxing Day.  The timing for the sale was good too because the coupons expire Jan 11th.  Now all I need is the actual console for play the game on!  Typical Keith to do everything backwards, get the accessories, then the game and then the console.

Turns out, I have the console, but don't actually HAVE it.  Since I didn't go home for Christmas, that meant I didn't get any gifts and they are still sitting in Cranbrook waiting for me.  My mom went and ruined Christmas for me and told me she got me an XBox One.  All she said is that it is "white" which means it's the Sunset Overdrive bundle without the stupid Kinect.  Nice job Mom!  Maybe someday I'll even get to play it!

I know Disney Infinity is a kids game, but I only bought it because of the Marvel stuff.  I need to track down a Spider-Man and maybe a Rocket Raccoon figure.  My next game will definitely be a bit more "mature".  Although, I'm not too sure what games are coming out soon.  For some reason I had my eyes on some RPG games like the new Dragon Age and Shadow of Mordor.  As long as I'm running around killing things I'll be entertained.

Turns out the 10% coupon I had was 10% off my entire order, not just one item.  That was pretty sweet, if I had known that I would've went and bought some more socks.

Go bananas

To replace my old busted worn out taco socks, I got banana socks.

Lucky #13

I got gas the other day at Petro Canada and it was cheap, 81.9/L and I also got myself another Hunger Games mug.  I still haven't actually used my first one, so its not like I need another one but I'm a sucker for gimmicky promotional crap.

I couldn't really decide which mug to get, so I went with the one with the big "D13" logo on it.  As I said I haven't read the books or seen the movies, so I'm not sure what that means, but I'm assuming it's like the boss mug.  All the other mugs have two district logos on them while this one just has a big single logo on it.

The mug on the left is the first mug I got, it has a big Hunger Games: Mockingjay P1 logo on the front while the two heat change logos appear on the sides.  My newest mug has the small movie logos on the sides while the big heat change logo appears on the front.

But for now I'm just going to pretend it's a mug for this movie instead.
