E.T. go home

When I was back in Cranbrook I let Avery play with my phone because he likes to play some of the games.  He was trying to play Word Search because he said it makes him smarter, but it's pretty hard when you can't really read.

Anyway, he was messing around with my Tamagotchi app and started raising a new guy.  I didn't want be bothered with it, so I completely ignored him until he literally went away.  I neglected him so bad he jumped in his spaceship and went back to his home planet.

Good riddance, who needs ya anyway!

If it makes any difference the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. app now features Generation 2 Tamagtochis.  I'm not going to get excited until they add Generation 3 Tamagotchis.  Then I can neglect them too.

Who you gonna call?

We out and since it was Sunday that meant a trip to the Sunnyside flea market.  There wasn't a whole going on, it seemed there was less crap than usual, but I still found a couple things including some Hot Wheels for Mike/Eli.  At the Hot Wheels table I also got some old McDonald's Real Ghostbusters fast food bike toys.

I got two toys and they are both bike horns, the Ecto 1 siren is my favorite.

I like that you have to wind the siren to make it go.  It comes with the front half of Ecto 1 which covers the siren part once attached to your handle bars.  There is also a sticker sheet in the bag so you can apply the appropriate stickers to Ecto 1.

Yes, Slimer!

I actually have another Real Ghostbusters toy from this same McDonalds line somewhere back in Cranbrook and that is also still in the bag.  It is the P.K.E. water bottle.  Now I just need the Egon Spinner and I'll have the whole set.

After the flea market we could've gone home like we usually do, but instead we went down to Chinatown.  We parked up on the hill and walked down across Centre Street bridge.  OMG, exercise!

I got a couple movies from the "other" place in Dragon City Mall and got some candy at the candy store including some Mentos.  You know they aren't just regular Mentos.

These are the Japanese "Fresh Cola" flavour Mentos and they are awesome.

After that we went to Jing Jing Bakery where I got a hot dog bun, beef bun, mini Chocolate roll and a donut skewer.  The guy put everything into one little paper bag which turned into one little grease stained paper bag.  It too was awesome.

It's little balls of sugar donuts on a skewer.  Can't go wrong with that.

After that we were leaving and went to Go East, the other bootleg movie store where I bought the Donnie Yen Collection for only $9.

That is $9 for three discs with 25 movies on them which works out to a measly 36 cents per movie!  Quite the bargain even if the movies are VHS type quality.  They are still widescreen and subtitled, so it's all good.  I bought it pretty much for three movies anyway.

Cody loved Go East because they also have bootleg porn movie there and they aren't even hidden in the corner, but right when you walk in the store.  For some reason he couldn't get over that.  I liked that they had bootleg Blu-rays there, but I liked their cases.  They were the same size a regular Blu-ray case, but thinner and grey instead of blue.  On the top of the case it said "Official Blu-Ray Movie" like if you saw that you'd be like, "There is no way this a bootleg!"  I asked the lady if she had any spare cases because I just wanted some of those funny fake Blu-ray cases, but she had none.  Bummer.

We left Chinatown and got lunch at Mucho Burrito which was mucho delicious and then went to Safeway where I bought some Smarties...I mean Scaries.

Nestle has some Halloween themed chocolate bars as part of their Craveyard Collection.  It has the above Scaries, Scareo(Aero), Coffin Crisp(Coffee Crisp) and Kit Kat.  I don't know why the hell I didn't get Coffin Crisp because that name is awesome.  They were a bit lazy with Kit Kat as they didn't even change the name, they just put a black cat on the label.  I guess there was no way to top Coffin Crisp.

That's it!

Would you?

Letus

I haven't seen the rabbit for a little while which is a relief so I let my guard slip a little a bit, then I spotted him in his usual spot the other afternoon.

The next morning when I went to work someone had left some lettuce by his perch.

When I came home he was back in his spot.  The lettuce was moved, but not eaten.  He doesn't eat greens any more...

Thanks again

I went and broke in my Taco Bell gift card.  I ended up getting a Locos Tacos box again because I didn't see the option to just buy the tacos, on the menu they are only in combos.  Then again, I didn't bother to ask.

Check out my taco sleeve on the fridge.  It's a good thing I cleaned some stuff off it to make room.

Zoinks!

This afternoon I stopped by Phoenix Comics and when I was leaving I spotted the freakin' Mystery Machine in the parking lot.  I literally did a double take and rubbed my eyes.  It's like real!

The parking lot at the back is pretty small, but I still didn't see it because it was way over on the edge against the fence and a couple other cars were parked blocking my view of it.  When I left those cars had gone, so it was in plain view.  I went over to take a picture when Martin (owner guy) came to go for lunch and I asked him who it belonged to it.  He said it was theirs and went on about some other stuff and I wasn't even listening, so I totally missed it.  I too focused on taking a picture of it and fixing the damn focus on my camera as some how it got messed up.  I will get the full story next time I go back.

I know there is rust on it and the roof isn't even painted and the front grill and bumper need some work, but it's still pretty cool.  I bet it would look was cooler if it had Lambo style scissor doors.

M-m-m-m-monster!!

Last weekend Mike sent me picture of kitchen novelty he found in the aisles of Wal-Mart.  First Cam and Cara and now Mike is at Wal-Mart too?  You guys give me no hope.

Anyway, he sent a picture of the Mustard Monster.  It's a replacement cap for you mustard bottle in the shape of a monster head and when you squeeze the bottle the mustard oozes out his nose.  Yep, it's pretty much the awesomest thing ever.  But I already knew this!

A while ago on one my trips back to Cranbrook I bought the ketchup version at Safeway.  The ketchup one is similar with a different monster head, but this one barfs the ketchup out his mouth like he's puking blood.  While I prefer the mustard monster nose gusher, I went with the ketchup guy because ketchup gets a little more use that mustard.  It still gets clogged up with solidfying gooey ketchup bits though.  Hurry, to Safeway, not Wal-Mart, to get yours today!

Go Goa Gone

I already mentioned I watched a Bollywood movie the other day and last night I watched the other Bollywood movie I got because there were two DVDs in that package.  The other movie was the Bollywood zombie flick, Go Goa Gone.  The movie looks great and was shot really well.  There isn't a lot of gore, but when there is blood it is usually the CG kind.  I still liked the movie.  If you won't take my word for it, then here are some quotes from some of India's biggest film critics.

It's not a scary gory movie, more comedy like Shaun of the Dead, but not as good.  In fact, a certain white shirt, red tie wearing zombie pops up in the movie.

There is another reference to Shaun of the Dead when all the characters are surrounded by zombies, one of them has the idea to act like a zombie to sneak through them.  He tells the others he saw it in a movie, but when asked he can't remember the name of the movie.

Mike will love this movie as only two vehicles are featured in the movie and one of them is a VW.

And the second one is a Toyota HiLux 4WD with Lambo style scissor doors.  Even I'll admit it's pretty cool.

The Death Master!  I don't think it's a production model.

When I put in the DVD and started the movie there were like four PSAs for anti-smoking, it was crazy.  It was even crazier that when anyone in the movie was smoking a little warning popped up in the bottom of the right hand side of the screen.

Yeah, but it makes me look so cool!

Also, there was music in this one, but no dance numbers or anything.  The music just played to a montage or stuff happening on screen and that is just the way I like it.  Now if you excuse me...

Fall Guy

Did everyone enjoy the first day of fall?  I'm still a bit sick, so I just grabbed some groceries, did laundry and watched a couple movies.  I like fall because I like the cool weather.  It's not cold, just cool,  and that's a lot nicer than a 30C summer day.

I've also been noticing something lately as I browse various websites and Tumblr pages is that Halloween is a pretty huge holiday for some people.  I was never really into it, but I'm getting the feeling it is bigger than Christmas for some people, mostly American people.  I "follow" Mummy Shark on Tumblr which is a sister site to Dinosaur Dracula and he started his Halloween countdown August 30th.  Check out his website for write ups on all things spooky from movies, decorations, Ghoul-Aid Kool-Aid and cereals.

While I'm not one to copy his traditions and his Halloween countdown has been going on for several years now, I will at least try to do something for this spooky season.  First up...Oreos!

I got these Halloween Oreos at Co-op this morning.  There is a witch picture on the cookie and the creme filling is orange coloured.  Don't worry though as it says right on the box "Orange coloured creme, same great taste."  I couldn't really taste the creme when I tried it as all I could taste was the cookie.  That is always why I eat double stuff Oreos, so I can actually taste the creme filling.  I'll have to eat a few more, but so far I'm not convinced.  They might end up in the bottom of the cupboard with the Birthday Oreos.

Sliced bread face guy

While I was back in Cranbrook I got a treat that Cam and Cara picked up for me in Seattle.  It was in a little brown paper bag which means they didn't spend very much on me.

When I looked inside I found this Japanese novelty.  At first I was sure what it even was until I saw a sticker of nutritional ingredients on the backside, it is chocolate.  I wasn't sure if I had seen the character before, but I had seen the guy with the bun shaped head, big red nose and red super hero costume before.

After doing to research, Google and Wikipedia, I found out that sliced bread face guy is actually called Shokupanman and is a supporting character in Anpanman.  Anpanman, the red nosed guy, started in Japan in 1973 as series of kids books, but then grew into everything they could merchandise out of him including toys, video games, clothes, cartoons and of course, snack food.

Now, I'm not sure what I should do with it.  I could eat it because it's chocolate, but if I do eat it I'll never get another one until Cam and Cara go back to Seattle.  I want to eat him, but he looks too cute.  I can't decide!

PS ~ Cam and Cara, if you go back to Seattle see if you can find this.

Back in the YYC

Just letting everyone know I made it back to Calgary this afternoon.  It is still here, so there's that.  I was planning to write more, but now that I'm back I'm sick, so forget it.  I could feel myself coming down with something Tuesday night and it has slowly been worsening.   Tomorrow I have to be at work at 6am until 3pm, so I thought I should take it easy.

I got into town, bought some groceries, came home, went back out to pick up a package that came while I gone, then back home to unpack.  I chilled and watched an Indian, as in Bollywood, movie that was in the package I picked up.  Yes, there were three different song and dance numbers plus a fourth one during the end credits.  I only watched the first song, the second one I went to get a drink and cookie and I just fast forwarded through the third one.  That's why I like North American movies, they don't have singing and dancing...unless they're Spider-Man 3.  That was a bit weird.

YES!

I'd say I'm keeping this so one day I can sell it and retire on the profits, but I don't think $1.25 will get me very far.   I'll just say I'll keeping it because it's just so insanely bizarre.

RUN AMC

As I said in my previous post Willie and I went to Liquidation World and we looked at pretty much everything in the entire store.  We even walked down the hardware/automotive/hardware aisle where Willie spotted some Lil Wayne seat covers for the low price of $10 and they were as trashy as you'd expected them to be.  Then we spotted a single box that had been opened, but it wasn't Lil Wayne, it was RUN DMC and you know I bought it.

It was also originally $10, but since it had been opened I'm guessing they lowered the price down to $7.50 which made it even sweeter.  It's even from Bell, a brand name as part of their Rock-n-Ride collection.  It's funny because I googled it and got the complete list of seat covers in the collection which are AC/DC, KISS, Ozzy Osbourne, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Judas Priest, RUN DMC, The Who, ZZ Top and Lil Wayne.  Is it just me or does Lil Wayne seem a little out of place?  I guess that's why Liquidation World is stuck with a shelf full of them.

It's not a perfect fit, but I managed to wrestle it on my seat.  Once I sit on it more I'm sure it will stretch and conform to seat better.  I like how the letters are shiny, shiny is better.

My street cred just went up with this awesome seat cover as did my cool factor which are now both at 1.  I'm keepin' it real yo!

I think I just accidentally started a gang war.

It would be awesome to get an old Gremlin, Spirit or AMX, then get a vanity plate that says RUN AMC.  Can you rock it like this?!

Pickles will NEVER be the new monkey

I picked up Willie at his house at noon and we set off to explore the best Cranbrook has to offer.  Since it's Monday that means all the thrift stores are closed, so we had to go to the regular stores.  I had a bunch of books to take in to Pages, so we stopped there first and I got $49.75 in book credit, but I did have a little left over previously on my account.  I actually still have about half an apple box of books to take in.

I got this Psycho book for $6.00 and I'll probably just give it to Cody.

It's for when you don't want to watch the movie, but don't want to read the novelization.   I guess it's sort of like a comic book/graphic novel.  Just look at stills from the movie and read the dialogue below the pictures.   Since I still had a bunch of credit I made Willie get the hardcover uncut edition of Stephen King's The Stand which he had been eyeing.   It looked extremely thick.

After Pages we went to Wal-Mart because my sister gave me a gift card, so I had to go see what my money would get me.  I almost bought Final Destination 5 on 3D blu-ray, but instead I bought an 80's Corvette.

Hot Wheels has line of vehicles from various movies and television shows.  Check out the full list here.  The Mystery Machine that I got a few weeks ago is from this line.  I paid less for it at the flea market than I did for Faceman's Corvette at Wal-Mart.  The flea market rules!

After that we ate pretzel bacon cheeseburgers at Wendy's and after that I picked up my car the shop.  I had the oil changed, the brakes serviced and apparently the tire fixed.

That nail was stuck in my tire.  I don't regularly check my tires for nails because I just figured the tire would be flat if there was a nail in it.  I guess that's why I'm not a mechanic.

Willie wanted to go the LDub(Liquidation World) and we did and it seemed like we spent a lot of time just looking at everything in the entire store.  I bought some movies because I don't have enough and some Sour Patch Kids Extreme.  Willie bought a DVD and some snacks too.

If you wondering what to get Willie for his birthday or for Christmas this is it!  The limited edition Twilight Sparkle Ceramic Detailer which easily creates Edwards textured style in seconds.  That thing would make his beard look so amazing!

Those olives sure look good don't they?  I dared Willie to eat some, but that is as close as he would get.

When I dropped Willie off his guard deer was in the back yard again making sure everything was secure.

Then later on I got this...

Oh nice, someone actually remembered!

When I get back to Calgary I will just go into Taco Bell and hand this to the cashier and tell them to give me as many Doritos tacos I can get.  Thanks guys!

One last pic...

Hiking fail

So today we were supposed to go hiking to Goldrun Lake, but things didn't quite work out as planned.  My mom didn't realize the drive was so far and she didn't like that the road was so rough and we were going up so high.  We are in the mountains mom!

Anyway, I turned around and drove back down and parked at the Perry Creeks Falls trail head.  We went went down the trail until we got to this small sketchy section on the trail that required some climbing over a rock and my mom didn't want to do it.  I went on a bit further with Logan and Avery.  Avery got stung by a wasp, so we went back to my mom who also had got stung by a wasp and then we headed back to the truck.

We found this shiny blue shoe on the Perry Creek Falls trails.  Not exactly proper hiking footwear.  No sign of the other shoe or whoever it belonged to.  Either the bears or the wasps got them.

I wanted to at least looked like I had done something.

Goldrun Lake was a strikeout and so was Perry Creek Falls, but where could we go that had an easy drive and easy walk?

Marysville Falls!!

Yes, it was an easy drive and a walk, but that doesn't mean it didn't have it problems like when Avery had to go down on the rocks and slipped and almost fell in.

He actually slipped on the rocks in the bottom right corner of this picture which is behind where he is in the picture above.  His foot got wet and that's about it, but my mom wasn't too happy.  I told her not worry as he will be doing plenty more stupider things than that in the years to come.

We also saw this rubber duck in the river as we were walking back up.  There was actually another duck caught in a pool at the base of the falls along with a tennis ball and another orange ball.  Someone should throw like a soccer ball or something in there and see what happens.
