Fabulous prizes revealed!

Cam has received his awesome pair of Vans that he won in the last contest I ran here on the blog.  He was nice enough to send me a picture of them.

Cam is stylin' and profilin'!  Cara is looking all sad because she doesn't have anything and isn't as cool.  Don't worry Cara, I told Cam you just have to be near him when he has the shoes on to be cool by association.  Go outside his cool cone of influence or you are on your own!  And Cara, you can turn that frown upside and keep reading for something special!

Now that Cam has a rad pair of shoes I'm going to have to step up my game to keep up with him.  Unfortunately, this is the best I got so far.

Mix and match Vans and yes, I did go out wearing them like that.  Now it's too cold out and I'll have to retire them until May.  Damn winter, making me wear shoes with laces.

Now onto Cara's prize!  If its one thing that chicks like it is making stuff (like breakfast, lunch, dinner) and jewellery.  Cara's prize combines both of these things into a fabulous Makit & Bakit necklace kit.

Oooohhh....Aaaahhh....

I took me a while to find something cool for Cara and it wasn't because stuff at the thrift store was too expensive.  I finally broke down and bought this because I know she likes Makit & Bakit kits and it a total pro at them, unlike her husband.  As you can see it cost $89, so more than the SRP of Cam's Vans, not that we're keeping track or anything.  I think it is because the chain on the necklace is platinum.   Cara, you can pick it up if you ever get back to Calgary or just wait until Christmas.  Christmas is probably better because then it counts as a Christmas gift too.  Enjoy!

YES!

I found this article yesterday about how classic games Star Wars: X-Wing and Tie Fighter will be making their way back to the PC.  I couldn't find a release date in the article, so I checked out GOG.com and turns out they are already available!  Sweet, I just need a flight stick now.  Spent a lot of time back in the day playing Tie Fighter on Cam's computer and I still have my X-Wing Collector's edition in a box somewhere.

MOUSTACHE MONDAY

In the tradition of themed days like Taco Tuesday, Throw Back Thursday and Caturday, I'm trying to get Moustache Monday off the ground.  Do you guys think it will catch on?

I finally found one of those Cokes bottles with my name on it!!

Super

I was getting some photos done at London Drugs and was browsing the toy section and found this bracelet for 99 cents.  I like that it is plastic, so it can take more abuse like getting wet and not fall apart like a fabric one.  Also...pretty colours...

I guess you can "DIY" it and change the loops, hence the Super Loopers name.  Sounds complicated to a guy like me, so I'll just stick with the as is version.  I did take off the charm though.  Looking at the back package there are different kinds of bracelets like glow in the dark, neon, and glitter.  OMG GLITTER!

I guess I have dainty wrists because it fit.   Another bonus of plastic, it stretches.  I did take off the charm though.  Below are a couple more shots of me trying to model my new bracelet.

ZOMBIE FREE TICKET

One of my Walking Dead scratchers paid off, unfortunately it was only a free ticket and not the $20,000 top prize.  Still better than nothing and my streak continues...

Am I the only one who thinks this should be a t-shirt?

No, I am not giving out candy at Halloween.

I case you weren't aware of it, Halloween is coming!  Last year I tried to celebrate it by watching all Friday the 13th movies in October and then failed miserably.  This year I am doing nothing!   Well, not nothing, I did buy this lamp from the thrift store.

We also watched Night of the Creeps and then The Monster Squad.  Monster Squad was awesome as always, love that movie.  I love it so much I even have a button.  I bought a bag of buttons at the thrift store just to get the Monster Squad button.  Worth it.

A Little Bit of Stuff

Again, here we go with a post of a few small things that don't really deserve an entire blog post on their own.

First up...COOKIES!

I've been seeing these Halloween Chips Ahoy! cookies for a while, but haven't bothered to get any until today.  They were on sale for $1.99!!  They are pretty good, I wish I had bought some earlier.

I like how on the bottom left corner of the package there is a disclaimer that says "Enlarged to show texture".  Do a lot of people really expect the cookies to be as big as the one in the picture on the front?   Now that I think about it, I want a Chips Ahoy! cookie that big.

Second thing, Cody and I started filming a new video.  It's a Halloweeny themed video, so we were doing it at night in darkened lighting and the result was crappy looking video.  The camera was also out of focus, so that really didn't help either.  It sucks because we'll have to reshoot everything, and that's a pain.  I hate doing things twice.

Finally, look what I literally dusted off.

I haven't used this for years, so I charged it up and gave it a spin.  I've gone through a couple computers since I got it, so I don't even want to sync it to my current computer because it will erase everything on it.  I don't download music, so if I wanted to put more music on it I'd have to rip CDs to iTunes and that isn't very convenient.    I'm too lazy to do that.  I guess I'm just stuck listening to the music and watching the Power Rangers episodes and Polysics music videos I have on it now.  I still like my 1st gen iPod shuffle better.

A Buncha Stuff

Here is the post I was going to do last night.  It's basically just some random stuff that wouldn't have been very interesting on their own, so I crammed it all together.  In the end it's still not very interesting.

Scaramilk egg!  They changed the packaging and name on the regular Caramilk egg to make it more Halloweeny.  Still tastes awesome!

Since I couldn't afford the $3000 stormtrooper statue I bought this little Jason Vorhees figure.  It's part of the ReAction line of "vintage" figures.  I like the old school look and lack of articulation.  He would fit right in with Kenner's Star Wars figures.

These are all the figures in the horror collection, but there are lots of other figures from everything from Goonies, Aliens and the Universal Monsters.

An Ewok! You can never have too many Ewoks. He came with a spear and a bow, he's ready for battle.

A while ago I bought a $1 scratch ticket and won $1, so I got another ticket and won $2.  I got a $2 ticket and won $4, so I got two more $2 tickets.  I won $5 on one of those tickets and used that five dollars to get two of these Walking Dead scratchers.  I kept the leftover $1, so at least I could say I got my money back.

I got these two a little while ago and they have been hanging around on the floor in my room.  Both from Phoenix, both cheap.  I like it.

A DVD of Rancid videos!

Greatest Hits From the Bong!  It has a parental advisory warning on it, so I gotta hide it from my mom.

I promise a better blog post once Cam sends me some pictures.

Bigger is better

I had planned on writing a bigger (but not better) blog post, but ended up watching One Man's Justice DVD that I bought at the thrift store.  Some dude get kicks in the balls!  I can make a gif of it if you want and save you the trouble of watching the entire thing.

Anyway, it was time for a trip to Phoenix Comics and look what I found!

That's a very big Stormtrooper and it only costs $3000.  Unfortunately, I just spent my last $3000 on some new socks, so I had to take a pass on it.  I'll put it on my Christmas list.  *hint hint*

Happy Thanksgiving 2014

My Thanksgiving dinner, the closest I'll get to a turkey dinner until Christmas.  I even cooked it old school in the oven.  It didn't taste any better, it just took longer to cook.  Next year I'll use the microwave.  At least I got two desserts, the apple-cranberry slime AND pumpkin pie from Co-op.

ATTACK OF THE STINGLESS BEES!!

With the tape I found and brought back from BC, Cody was able to put together another classic, ATTACK OF THE STINGLESS BEES.  This was to be a big man vs nature picture, but unfortunately we never actually finished making it.  The big problem was that we didn't even have a script or even a basic story, but I had the title and Cody had the dummy.

We only filmed a few scenes over the course of an hour out in Hidden Valley at a location known at Mount Tubular with the primary crew of Cam, Cody and myself.   Cody is on screen, I do some off camera voice over and Cam and I share camera duties.  For what we shot, we still managed to salvage something watchable.  Enjoy!

Thanks Willie!

When I back in Cranbrook a few weeks ago I finally got my stuff that Willie got for me at the Hanson Brothers show.  It only took six months.  I got a CD, a t-shirt and most importantly, my change.  The change was still in the jacket pocket he wore to the show.

This a remastered reissue on their own label as the original was out on Virgin Records.  Sounds like exactly the same, but I'm half deaf, so I couldn't tell the difference anyway.  Comes in a digipack as opposed to the original jewel case.

It's a shirt.

Willie was kind enough to remove all the cat hair from the shirt before he gave it to me.  I still washed it before I wore it anyway.

Free stuff by the garbage

When I went out this morning I threw out the garbage on my way to the car and saw a heavenly sight.

I didn't add a filter or lens flares to this picture, it just turned out that awesome.

A GE dishwaser!  Unfortunately, since the hot dog washer was ruined I don't really have any use this.  Too bad it wasn't another skateboard.

Bianca Amor's Part 3 of many

Here we go with another awesome item from my trip to Bianca Amor's!

With my hectic life style I don't have time to boil or cook a hot dog in a frying pan, so this microwavable hot dog tray is really going to make my life a lot easier.

Best of all, it's dishwasher safe!  Note to self, get a dishwasher.

I washed it first before I used it just the packaging said, but unfortunately I had to hand wash it.

I bought some Tog Dogs angus hot dogs and figured I just try one first to see how it goes.

It did not go well.

I followed the instructions of 3 to 4 minutes even though that seemed like a long time to me.  I guess it was too long.  I remember "back in the day" of putting hot dogs in a paper towel and then putting them in the microwave for only sixty seconds and that worked fine.

It just needs some extra ketchup and mustard.

Damn, that's fifty cents I'll never get back!  Also, our place smells weird now.

Bianca Amor's Part 2 of many

This is the next entry of stuff I bought at Bianca Amor's!  Cody found some cool Regular Show slippers, but they were way too small.  They were cheap and it sucked they didn't fit me.

Rigby and Mordecai...OOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Then I found some other slippers that did fit me.  They weren't as cheap, but I bought them just because they're a lot different than normal slippers.

They are slippers that look like Stampeder's football shoes.

They got cleats on them, so I guess I could even wear them outside if I wanted.

Slippers with laces?  That kind of seems to defeat the whole concept of slippers.  I thought the point of them was to be able to slip them on.  They fit fine once on my feet, but it actually takes time to put them on or take them off.  I can't be bothered with stuff like that!

I feel weird wearing them around upstairs because I feel like I'm going to get in trouble or something.  No shoes on inside the house!!

I bought a pair of hockey skate slippers for Avery for Christmas.  These are even more ridiculous slippers as they are basically high top slippers.  I imagine these will be a pain to put on.  Good thing they didn't have my size.
