Congratulations everyone, this is officially my 100th post here on my blog. There has been ups and downs, but one thing has remained consistent for all 100 posts and that's my poor spelling and grammar. Unfortunately, I don't have any party favors or fireworks, but feel free to send me gifts .

I'll share with you some pictures of the crap I just bought. I know I'm moving and buying more crap probably isn't the smartest thing to do, but I couldn't resist. I haven't been to Value Village is so long and this week I managed to hit all three stores here in town. I got a couple t-shirts, books, and a tacky glass. One of the shirts is pretty stupid, so stupid I took a picture of myself wearing it.

I know you are laughing!!

In case you can't read the text (click the picture to see the larger size) it says "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry". I'm not sure why I bought it because I'll probably never actually wear it unless I'm painting or doing something dirty. The fact that is was only $1.99 definitely influenced my decision on whether or not I should buy it. What can I say, I'm a sucker. Value Village always has video game, music and movie t-shirts. In addition to Chuck and Larry I also saw The Love Guru, Smoking Aces, Halo, Def Leppard and a bunch more I instantly forgot after I looked at them. I saw some band t-shirt that was even signed by four people who I'm assuming were the band. I can't remember the band name, but they probably totally sucked. If they were any good I doubt the shirt would be in Value Village.

I also made my weekly to trip to Phoenix comics to see what's new. They had a Joey Ramone figure from NECA who also made the Kurt Cobain figure. It looks pretty cool, Joey's dressing in torn jeans, black t-shirt, leather jacket and comes with a mic stand. I didn't get it, but I probably will eventually. Anyway, I picked up this sack of loose Star Wars figures for $7.95 and I'm still wondering if it was worth it.

It was a mix of original figures with some newer figures. Unfortuately, almost all the figures didn't have accessories or anything which explains why it was $7.95.

The top row is all original figures. The Snow Trooper looks to be in the best shape, it's a bummer the coolest one, Biker Scout, is in the worst shape and has turned a bit yellow. I got two original Vader's and the Ewok's joints were surprisingly loose. Somebody actually played with an Ewok?? The bottom three figures are all new and even though the bottom Vader comes with a nylon cape and totally looks like a dollar store knock off, he is actually licensed. It's a bendy figure, so you can make him kick himself in the face and do other funny things. The bag had one gun and I'm pretty sure it was the Sand Trooper's gun, but I gave it to Boba Fett because he's cooler. He NEEDS a gun, but that just goes without saying.

So keep reading and here is to 100 more posts! I'm going to try and do something different as next post might be a video post, so check back this weekend and I'll see what I can do.

Cupcake dreams

A couple weeks ago I had this weird dream in which I was eating a cupcake. I don't know why I dreamed I was eating a cupcake, but I did. When I woke up in the morning I was totally craving a cupcake...with pink icing. I haven't eaten a cupcake in years, probably many years, so my cupcake craving had to be filled.

I started first with grocery chains like Safeway, Sobey's, and Sunterra Market but I got nothing. Yes, they had cupcakes, but they just looked gross. The conveyor belt assembly of a 1000 different chemicals and additives cupcakes aren't going to cut it. I was craving one of those homemade bake sale cupcakes or the kind your mom made when you were a kid, or in my case that your friend's mom made. Cam and Mike I'm looking at you two!! So I tried checking out some small local bakeries in hopes of finding some, but struck out again. All I want is a cupcake, is that too much to ask?!

I finally caved in and bought these fancy cupcakes from Safeway. I say fancy because they cost $1.50 each. I had seen them before was turned off the "icing" which resembles a coiled dog turd.

It does look like a turd right?? It's just pink or blue. They actually had a chocolate cupcake with the chocolate icing which looked too scary to eat, but you could probably have a lot of other fun with it. It looks a bit weird and I'm sure you're all wondering one thing.
Q: How does it taste?
The icing is horrendous. The icing itself on my cupcake must have weighed about a pound. I took one bite and then just cut the rest of the icing off with a knife and threw it in the garbage. Usually, I can stomach food even if it's not the best especially when I pay for it, but this cupcake crossed the line. In the end my cupcake craving was put to rest, but unfortunately only by eating something totally disgusting.

Raise the roof!

Seeing as how we officially get our new place August 1st it's time to think about moving. And moving means boxes.

I grabbed a couple boxes yesterday and few more today. It's nice that I work right next the produce department as I can grab boxes whenever I see some empty ones sitting around. I was going to wait until I had a few more stacks of boxes before I took the picture. But whatever it's always cool when you can stack anything up to the roof.

Although now comes the hard part of putting stuff inside the boxes and then moving them to the new place. I'm more inclined to be lazy and pack stuff up in the boxes and then leave it in there. But I could make a cool fort with all the empty boxes afterward. Choices.

In a fix

Me and Cody were driving around today in the Cavalier when suddenly there was this scraping noise. I was like "Is that me?" The car was running fine, but the noise was scary, so we pulled over to see what was going on. The strap that holds up the muffler had broke and was now dragging on the ground. We were almost home, so I just stuck it back up there. When we got back I tried figuring out a better way to tuck the broken strap up because it was still hanging down a bit and was right behind the tire which was making me nervous. Sticking it back up was not going to working, but the strap was so rusty I just bent it and twisted it back and forth until it broke off. Problem fixed!! It's not entirely fixed because there is no strap holding up my muffler, but it is not like it's dragging on the ground. In fact it didn't even hang down a little bit. So I'm guess I'm safe until next time I get to go back to Cranbrook to get it fixed. I'll just have to hold off from taking jumps, driving over curbs and hitting speed bumps at full speed.

Beans and Boobs

Hey what's going on? Again I had a few thing to write about including cupcake dreams, but I got lazy and didn't bother. Anyway, last Saturday I managed to see my cousin Cam who I haven't seen in a LONG time despite the fact that we live in the same city. Since we are moving I decided to unload some stuff of Murray's on him like a DVD binder and a few CDs. It wasn't much, but the less crap I have to move the better. I also had stuff I had gotten for him like years ago, but never got around to giving it to him plus some CDs and a can of beans.

Beans! I was shopping one day at Safeway and they had the "buy one get one free" deal going onfor Heinz beans and for some reason that to this day I do not understand I bought some. I made it for lunch one day and it was pretty bad. I made it and didn't want to waste it so I had to force myself to eat the whole can of beans. Ugh, it was one hell of a job. I was so nasty I had to take a picture. I was planning to post the picture on here, but never got around to it, but I did put it on MySpace where my cousin Cam posted a comment about it. Since he seemed to enjoy it so much I thought I'd give him my other can of beans because lord knows I wasn't going to eat it.

Anyway, I saw Cam and gave him his and Murray's stuff. It was good to see him and I should probably do it more often. We were walking around and we were going by Burger Inn because there is a location like a block from his place and we went in to grab a burger. I totally splurged out and got the Kobe beef burger which set me back $9.44 (including GST) and that was just a burger, no fries and no drink. I got the 4oz burger because the 8oz burger is $16.99 and I'm not sure I could justify spending that much on a hamburger. It tasted like beef, but I couldn't see what the big deal was all about. Cam pointed out that I shouldn't have gotten any condiments on it and he was probably right. I think I tasted more ketchup (or catsup) than I did meat.

In other news I got this piece of "art" in the mail the other day. It was nice to finally get it as I commissioned it way back in January! I've been waiting so long I almost forgot about it. It's all comic book girly boobs and such.

I OKed the preliminary sketch of this, but didn't notice that her costume was a bit unzipped and actually would've preferred it was done up, but whatever it's too late for that now. I enjoy cheesecake as much as the next guy and it did turn out pretty nice, so I'm still happy with it. I like that she's holding onto a web with her one hand, a nod to her Spider-Man roots. I'm sure you all know it's Black Cat and she's drawn by Brazilian artist Elton Ramalho who has worked on DC's Superman and Teen Titans.

Darwin wins again!

I've been meaning to post something for a few days, but as always I've been lazy. That's why I went with just a video post of Terminal Boredom by the Cute Lepers the other day. It's a good song, so I hoped you watched it. Watch it! So this post will cover a couple things one of which is a crazy story about our new place.

First up...blast from the past!! I was at this little old convience store in Sprucecliff and spotted this drink in the cooler, it's a blast from the past.

Pop Shoppe is back! I remember this stuff from way back when in Cranbrook when you could buy it right from the outlet. Pick out the flavors you want (30 kinds!) and after you're done bring back the empty bottles and get some more. The brand went out of business, but recently came back still in the old glass bottles for the nostaglia factor. Before you had to go to Pop Shoppe outlets to get the stuff, but now you can go to regular stores to pick it up. They don't have as many flavors as before with just 10. The store where I found it only had two, orange and pineapple. Pineapple seems like an odd flavor, but I guess different is good.

Cody drank the orange soda, it wasn't diet so I couldn't drink it. I noticed some weird saying on the side of the bottle.

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean. That is like something you say to your parents when you six. Anyway, check out the official Pop Shoppe website and look for it at a Zellers or London Drugs near you. The website says they have new diet flavors, so I will be on the lookout for diet cream soda diet lime ricky even though I don't like cream soda.

Onto the new place we got. Some lady who also works at the Superstore on front end with Cody told him a story about the place we getting. It totally explains why the place has been renovated with new paint, carpet, flooring, hot water heater, and furnace when the outside looks so shabby. Let's just say there are reasons why you shouldn't smoke with an oxygen tank. The lady was only in her 30's and going up the stairs when she pretty much exploded. She died, but at the hospital, not in the place. Apparently, when they carted her out she was totally blackened. Bad luck for her, but good for us! We get a place all renovated plus it comes with a cool/grisly story about her being blown up. Although, we probably will exaggerate it with her getting blown through the wall or she was upstairs and got blown though the floor all the way to the basement. Something morbid like that. Funny how they didn't mention any of this to us while we were looking at the place. It's not like it would've scared me off, in fact I would've wanted it even more!

Phillip Ontakos

We got a place! As of August 1st we will have a new place and one with windows with a view. We have out current basement until August 31st, so yes we are paying rent on two places, but we have the whole month to move out. It'll probably take a couple weeks just to clean this dump out when we leave.

I didn't actually see the place until after I signed the lease. Cody did all the work and picked the place, I just showed up and signed on the dotted line. It's a townhouse type place with an unfinished basement, a main floor with a kitchen and living room and a second floor with two bedrooms and the bathroom. The outside is kinda ghetto, but the inside has new paint, new carpet, new cabinets and tile. We were told it's the nicest unit which makes me feel bad for everybody else living there. It only has washer/dryer hookups which means we'll need a washer and dryer. Some windows will need blinds/draperies too. I was thinking we could use a flag with a marijuana leaf on it, or tin foil, or some cardboard. I guess it's off to Ikea for something cheap if it comes to it.

Afterwards, we dined at Taco Bell. Taco Bell is one of those places where it's so nasty it can be good...maybe. Whatever you do don't order the fries supreme because the fries at Taco Bell are awful and making them "supreme" makes them 10,000 times more disgusting. Nachos supreme are fine though, so go with that.

Movies and more Sloan.

This afternoon we went and saw The Incredible Hulk and the place was packed! There was like five people in the whole theater! That included us. We got there 15 minutes before the movie started and spent 15 minutes waiting in line at concession, it was excruciating, but the nachos were worth it. Seeing as how the place was pretty much empty it was easy getting a seat in the dark. We missed the advertisements, but caught the trailers. I'm sure you're wondering how the movie was and I'll say it was okay. Better than the first Hulk, but it still didn't impress me. It had a few funny nods to the old TV series. I think I didn't like it probably because there was so much CGI especially in the end fight of Hulk vs Abomination. CG has come a long way, but it looks CG, it wasn't exciting or I guess destructive enough. The movie also drops a couple hints at sequel possibilities involving the Avengers (Tony Stark/Iron Man cameo) or the Leader as a villain. I was no Iron Man, but I'm a Marvel dude, so I watched it anyway. Maybe when it comes out on DVD it'll be improved with the 70 minutes of cut footage(!) including a Captain America scene.

I forgot to mention that I finally saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It was "meh". All these remakes and sequels to old franchises never live up to the expectations of pretty much everyone. Indy is just a guy who barely scrapes through crazy situations by the skin of his teeth. The opening sequence in Indy 4 just takes this to a whole new level it is outrageous. Plus I really hated the Shia LaPoof vine swinging bit with the monkeys. That was stupid. BUT! Since I was seeing Indy 4 I got the Indiana Jones combo that came with all that great stuff above. If I was going to get my childhood dreams crushed I might as well get something out of it. I got my popcorn in that huge Indy 4 plastic pail, some Indy cards, and a pack of Indy 4 Mint Crisp M&Ms. The popcorn pail is bigger than past popcorn pails I've gotten which is a good thing because it means more popcorn! I wish I could've gotten it filled with nachos instead because that would be totally awesome. The Indy cards aren't like trading cards, but more like Magic cards. It's some card playing game or something similarly lame. The only way people are going to eat Mint Crisp M&Ms is if you give to them for free. There is no way somebody would pay to eat them. I don't mind the mint part, it's the crisp part that's weird.

I got this e-mail from Yep Roc records about a new live Sloan CD! It's not like an actual physical album, but one you can download only from LimeWire. And it's not an actual live album, but a live EP. It's also a live EP that was recorded in a studio. Still it's Sloan, so it won't disappoint. To get the EP of six songs, it'll cost you $5.94 American dollars. Actually, it'll probably cost you nothing! I'll cave in and end up buying it because I'll be on the computer and be bored and buy it just for something to do. Then I'll put it up online for anybody who wants it to download it. I'll keep you posted.

It's Canada Day, so I celebrated by doing absolutely nothing! I went outside to put out the garbage, but that's it! Come to think of it I must like celebrate Canada Day everyday. Seriously, though I slept in and then lay in bed and watched TV on my little TV. Got up and ate a blueberry bagel and looked at some crap on the computer. When back and lay in bed and watched some AbaRanger the movie and then had a nap. Woke up and watched Godzilla Final Wars, folded laundry and did some reading. Back on the computer and that's about it. Oh yeah, took out the trash.

I haven't really posted much since last Tuesday and I'm not sure why, other than being extremely lazy. I actually have two burger joint stories that I still haven't written up yet. I will eventually, so you'll just have to wait.

I decided to kill two birds with one stone (something you shouldn't do, it's not nice) and change up the streaming jukebox with some Sloan. It'll make up for a lack of posts lately, help celebrate Canada Day, and because the new Sloan album just came out. I dug out some singles and stuff and put up some b-sides and an unreleased track. It wouldn't be that exciting if they were songs you'd all heard before.

Track listing:
  1. Rag Doll. Taken from the UK CD single for I Am The Cancer. Sounds very Smeared.
  2. Laying Blame. Also taken from the UK CD single for I Am The Cancer.
  3. At The Edge Of The Scene. From the CD single for Don't You Believe A Word.
  4. Glad To Here. From the Much@Edgefest '99 compilation CD. Previously unreleased.
