Stuff Vol. 187

I went to Phoenix Comics today to pick up the newest issue of Scooby Apocalypse and almost got out of there with only a couple comics...almost.  I found these these two used cheap DVD sets.

We all know Transformers was originally a Japanese cartoon and toy line that was then brought over to North America.  After the show stopped airing over here, it still did three more seasons over in Japan.  Shout Factory released these official DVDs a while ago, but it was nice to pick them up cheap used.  Since the show never aired in North America there is no English dubbed version, so these cartoons are in the original Japanese language with English subtitles.

I was happy to pick up these two sets, but then I was reading the back of the cases and on Super-God Masterforce it says it's part 2 of a trilogy.  Now I need I the third part!  Oh well, I'll worry about that after watching these two first, so only 33 hours of content to go.  FYI, Headmasters is part one, then Super-God Masterforce and the final and missing set is Victory.

Cody had the day off and went to Dollarama because that is what Cody does on his days off.  He bought me this officially licensed Star Wars pillow case.  Even though it's Dollarama, this rang up at a pricey $4.00 which is still totally worth it.

He only bought one, which means I'll probably have to go back and get another one so I have a matching pair.  Unfortunately this was the only style they had, where is BB-8?

And now back to Transformers!  Mike, how is your Transformers: The Movie DVD??

Eh

I've been severly slacking in my blog duties lately and I'm not sure why.  I could blame the cereal conglomerates for not putting enough toys/free giveaways in cereals or Nabisco for releasing any new Oreo flavours, but I guess it is my fault really.

Today I went to the candy store in Glamorgan to pick up some candy and some something the write about here on the blog.   They were closed!  People need candy seven days a week, so closing for Mondays is a big mistake.  Candy is what gets you through Monday, just ask Garfield.  Wait, that's lasagna, but whatever.  Luckily, I have a fall back blog option that is still candy/snack/food related.

Cody bought me these weird snack foods from E-Mart the Korean grocery story on 17th Ave that used to be a Blockbuster Video.

The big bag had this guy on it with what I thought was a big pitcher of ketchup.  I thought, "Damn, that is a lot of ketchup and he's sloshing it everywhere!"  Then I remembered ketchup comes in squeeze bottles, not pitchers, duh.  When I actually ate one I realized they were maple syrup flavored and he is actually holding a jug of maple syrup.  Still, it's weird because if you look at the maple syrup that is spilled outside the jug and then look a empty space in the jug there is no way all the syrup could fit in the jug.  But that is why it is spilling everywhere!  Okay, it all makes sense now.

The maple syrup things looks like this.  Despite being made with Canadian corn and Canadian maple syrup by a cartoon mascot they aren't that good.

This thing is from the box with strawberry on it.  They are pastry like wafers with a strawberry "substance" on top.  They don't actually look that great, but they taste a lot better.  I actually like these.  They are a bit messy though and leave a ton of crumbs as the pastry flakes apart whenever you bite into it.  Eating over a plate, or the sink if you are me, is essential.

The third box with the donuts on it I'm not even going to get into that as it requires actual work.  Eating little donuts like that shouldn't be work, but it is.  Looks like I at least have something to write about now.

I bought these last week and they are actually pretty good unlike certain other Lay's potato chips that are currently out, I'm looking at you Bacon Poutine.

Finally!

This came in the mail today!

I honestly thought I wasn't going to get this spoon.  Seems like it took a LOT longer than all my previous spoons, like almost an extra two months.  I thought maybe they went through all the spoon stock and couldn't make any more.  It's nice it finally made it and finally I'm a cool dude with a spoon to prove it.

Sleeping under the stars

Today I had the day off, so I washed the Star Wars bed sheets I got for my birthday.

They are a light greyish outer space colour with stars and star ships outlined as constellations.  Darth Vader constellations make up the two pillow cases.  They're made from a silky smooth 100% polyester.  Now I just need to find a Star Wars duvet cover to put the whole thing together.

I should really downsize to a twin bed then I could use actual vintage Star Wars bed sheets.  I could also use Dukes of Hazzard, The Black Hole, Transformers and The A-Team sheets because I have a big Rubbermaid tote filled with that stuff back in Cranbrook.

Wanna hear a funny story?  Last night I woke up at 1:30am and went to go get a drink when I found myself locked in my room!  I turned the door knob and something inside broke, so the handle was just loosely spinning around.  There was no tension and the door wouldn't open.  I tried using my credit card to open it, but it felt like my card was going to break, so I gave up.  I ended up knocking on my door a bunch hoping Cody would hear it and then free me.  By this time I was fully awake and realized I could use a coat hanger to open the door instead of the flimsy credit card.  It worked and when I opened the door Cody was just standing there with a baseball bat in his hand because he thought some knife wielding maniac was messing with him.  Thanks for the help Cody!

Suck it up

I was looking around in some boxes in my basement when I found this awesome Build A Straw kit I bought long ago at the dollar store.  It was another cheap thing to be featured in a blog post, but then it got put away and I forgot about it.  Luckily I found it because it was either a blog post about this or how my jeans ripped the other day.

I've never seen a straw with that many pieces.  The fanciest straw I ever had was bendy at the top.

So many pieces, I don't even know where to start!  The possibilities are endless...

Can I make something as cool as this kid?  I mean, he's drinking from three different cups!  Wow!  I wonder if I can make a straw that will let me drink from four cups!

After a lot of differents attempts and failures, this is my final straw design.  It has clean simple lines and as they say, "less is more".

New music Tuesday

It's new music Tuesday on a Wednesday, even though it's been moved to Friday!  Who came up with the idea to move new music Tuesday to Friday?  Cuz I hate it.

Anyway, I got the new Tuns CD and if you want a copy then head to your nearest HMV where it's $9.99 for CD and $15.00 for vinyl.  I can't comment on if its any good because I just got it and haven't even had a chance to listen to it yet.  I can safely say it probably doesn't suck.  I also recently picked up Before You Were Punk from the used section at Melodyia Records.  It's not bad, if they have Vol. 2 when I go back next time I might pick it up.

Before you were punk?  Mike was born punk!

Track listing

I read that Yep Rock is re-releasing the Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet albums.  They are releasing three albums remastered with bonus tracks and new updated liner notes.  I've had multiple copies of Savvy Show Stoppers, I had a copy of Sport Fishin' but I'm pretty sure I lost it, and never owned Dim the Light, Chill the Ham.  Sport Fishin' will features bonus tracks with Fred Schneider from the B-52s!  I can't decide which one to get!  Okay, all of them.

Pika Pi!

I came across this article tonight and it makes me sad.  Somebody should kick global warming, I mean, climate change in the balls.  Let's flash back to this post, Mug Shot.  Hopefully, the Canadian Pika are thriving and doing well.  I actually managed to get a picture of one once, if you use a magnifying glass you can almost see it.
