Down in the basement...

Hey, let's go down in the basement.  There is something I want to show you.

Don't be scared, it's not that bad.

Okay, maybe it is!

Here it is!  It's a Hitachi Video Disc Player that I bought at Meloydia.

It also came with a 50lb box of movies.

In addition to Elvis On Tour there is also a bunch of concert discs, Airplane, Charlie Chaplin, Death Wish and Tom & Jerry.    Raging Bull and The Blue Brothers are also in there, but they are 2 disc movies.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten it to work yet.  I had it hooked up, but I had to buy a new co-axial cable for it.  It turns on because a green light tells me it's on, but all I get on the TV is static.  I even tried channels 3 AND 4!  I'll have to give it another try.  If I can get it to work I can always hook it up to my DVD Recorder I got from the thrift store and record the video discs to DVD.  Technology!!

Portage

I know I said something about doing an exciting blog post this weekend, but I totally lied and you suckers fell for it!  Hahahahaha...you get nothing exciting at all!

Anyway, I'll give the the first episode of the classic Mr. Canoehead.

The video quality is downright terrible, but it's still enjoyable.  I remember watching this on CBC back in the day.  Additional episodes can be found on YouTube as well.

Bleh. P2

Here is some junk I forgot to include with my last post.

I was at the mall and went to HMV to have a look around and ended up walking out (I paid for it!) with the new Crystal Method album.  I'm not sure how "new" it is, but it did come out in 2014.  They've updated their sound a little, so they got a dub step thing going on.  So far I'm liking it.  After HMV I hit up Phoenix/Melodyia and got more CDs!

They went and raised the prices a bit from $3 to $4 for most stuff, the Link Wray disc is still $3.  The Groove Armada album was still sealed, so the $4 was a deal.  Also, it's a good disc!  I know it's hard to believe, but I don't have that Beastie Boys album, but now I do, so it's all good.  Speaking of the Beasties, I also got a Mix Master Mike CD.  I've only listened to Groove Armada, but I'll get around to the rest later.

Also...

If you see these, they aren't bad!

Bleh.

Yep, not much going on around here.  Things have been pretty quiet on the blog front lately most because I've haven't really done anything.  I know that not much of change since I usually don't ever do anything, but sometimes I buy dumb junk and show it to you guys.

I was going to go to Chinatown today and buy a movie and look at other stuff like toys, candy and baked good, but the weather wasn't cooperating, so I didn't end up going.  Maybe next week on a day as long as the weather is nice.

I did go for a walk on Monday because it was nice out then.  It was a good walk, but I wore my slip on Vans with no socks.  My feet held up surprisingly well.  Well I was out I saw something totally crazy...a guy using a pay phone!  Yes, there are still pay phones out there and I guess people still use them.  It was weird.

Anyway, this is pretty much a non-post, but hopefully this weekend I'll get to something a little more exciting.  I might even break out the pressure washer and show you guys what is hiding under all the dust on the Spider-Man package.

Triple Threat

This would be really awesome if it was a giant single bag with all three different cereals mixed together inside.

I'm so hungry I could eat...

Aces

In an earlier post I mentioned how last year I only went to see two movies in theatre and then went to list all the movies I wanted to see this year.  So far I've blown last year's two movie count of the water and added another movie to the list when we saw X-Men: Days of Future Past.

I've also rekindled my failed Friday the 13th marathon from last Halloween.  With last Friday being a Friday the 13th, with bonus full moon, I dug out my box set and watched Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI.  I skipped over Part V: A New Beginning because it sucks.

While I was searching for my Friday the 13th set I found my Ace Ventura set!  I watched When Nature Calls tonight, so now I gotta go back and watch the first Ace Ventura again.  When Nature Calls seems so much stupider than the first one, but it's still funny.  I still love when he punches out the Monopoly guy.

THE VERY FUNNIEST BOOK OF ALL

I was at the thrift store last Tuesday because it was Toonie Tuesday and all DVDs are $2.00 each.  Yeah!  Unfortunately, I didn't find any good DVDs, but I did find an awesome book for only 25 cents.

 Nice bowl cut kid.

It's a book about a book.  It's not supposed to make sense, since it's a religious book.   The basic run down is that it says there are all different types of books, but there is one extra special book...The Bible!  Just looking at the cover I knew it was going to be a Jesus thing, but it was too funny to pass up.

The pictures in the book are pretty funny and hilariously dated as the book came out in 1982.  They look so cheesy, I don't know how to explain it.  There needs to be a photo app with that filter on it.

Opa!

Hey God, pull my finger!

This Happy Day Book is a totally rip-off of the classic Golden Books with the thick covers and instead of a golden spine, they use a silver spine.  Even on the inside of the back cover there is a list of all the other Happy Day Books.

Some of those titles are pretty funny like God Made Kittens, Happy Times with the Lollipop Dragon, Baby Jesus ABC Storybook and my favorite How God Gives Us Peanut Butter.  I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for those books for future thrift store visits.  Reading this book is the closest to reading a Bible as I'll ever get.
